On the front line, where we fight
Mortar shells and land mines
Overcoming fear of death
Where everyday, we see our end
A strange feeling overcomes me
the light receding, darkness comforting
Can feel the pain going away
but the memories are still there
Saw my comrade dead yesterday
Didn't really think that would be my fate today
Seeing him lie there cold and dead
Felt I had to live again
My heart is not here on the battlefield
Its in a place so far away
Where I have a family, a house
and those who care
They are all proud in a way
that I defend this land
Yet, in their heart there is a fear
That I may not see another day
Now lying here, in a pool of blood
Strangely, I am smiling
While I think of my family
I can also see the enemy fleeing
On the front line, where we fight
People will miss me I am sure
Tears will be shed, but I am content
For I chose a beautiful day to die
Mortar shells and land mines
Overcoming fear of death
Where everyday, we see our end
A strange feeling overcomes me
the light receding, darkness comforting
Can feel the pain going away
but the memories are still there
Saw my comrade dead yesterday
Didn't really think that would be my fate today
Seeing him lie there cold and dead
Felt I had to live again
My heart is not here on the battlefield
Its in a place so far away
Where I have a family, a house
and those who care
They are all proud in a way
that I defend this land
Yet, in their heart there is a fear
That I may not see another day
Now lying here, in a pool of blood
Strangely, I am smiling
While I think of my family
I can also see the enemy fleeing
On the front line, where we fight
People will miss me I am sure
Tears will be shed, but I am content
For I chose a beautiful day to die
